Since 1958, we've been sharing our best moments in the sun

The Solar story began in 1958, in Annecy, France. A group of enthusiasts came up with a simple idea: to create sunglasses that could be worn for mountain adventures and everyday life, without ever compromising on style, comfort, or protection.

Success quickly followed. In the 1960s and 1970s, Solar became the official supplier to the French ski team. Champions like Guy Périllat and Jean-Claude Killy wore our frames on the slopes. The brand also made headlines when a pair of Solar glasses appeared on the cover of Paris Match, worn by Jackie Kennedy. A few years later, Solar even received the Export Oscar from Valéry Giscard d'Estaing.

Since then, our philosophy has never changed. At Solar, a pair of glasses is much more than a simple accessory. It accompanies the moments that matter: a lunch on a terrace, a day at the beach, a mountain hike, a bike ride, or a weekend with friends. For over 65 years, we have been creating glasses designed to fully experience all these moments.

Style doesn't exclude protection

We have also chosen to make this quality accessible. An excellent pair of sunglasses should not be reserved for luxury brands. At Solar, lens quality is a requirement. The price, however, remains fair.
